Terceira - Azores

It was the second time I had the chance to visit this island, and it was the first one I visited in this archipelago, back in the year of 2003. At that time the digital cameras or the cell phones with camera weren’t very usual, so I just have some photos taken with an analogic camera.

The main goal of this trip was working, but even so, when you are in a place with so many interesting points you can’t put your eyes away from the interesting landscapes.

In the city of Angra do Heroísmo we have many monuments, but what captivated me the most was the fact that every building was fresh painted, and all the people care much about the houses, or even in the streets you don’t see any garbage, looks like you are in a distinct country (In 1983, the historic center of Angra do Heroísmo was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Very proud of people from Terceira Island.

In this island we have very beautiful green fields, most of them used as food for the cows.

In here we can’t find the diversity that we have in the biggest island, São Miguel, or the big mountain that we have in the Pico Island, or even the more tropical vegetation that is available in the Flores Island, but there is no island like this one if you want to enjoy yourself, have a party with the locals, which are most of the year celebrating and having good moments.

The food is also wonderful, you just have to find the right place to eat a good peace of cow beaf, or to enjoy some fish from this area. We can’t forget to taste the typical “lapas” and “Cracas”…

Concerning to geocaching, a lot of interesting points are also available here, from wonderful earthcaches, hiking circuits with geocaches, or even the oldest cache…
