One tip to the north of Portugal

In august, the usual month for holidays, it was time to go on a small trip to the north of Portugal. Not exactly to the top of the country, for that it was need to travel a bit more up.

On our journey we decided to take a different route, avoiding all the highways and seeing new places.

Our first stop was in Vouzela, where we had the opportunity to find some caches, and more important, to appreciate the views. The caches that we found were: Linha do Vouga - Vouzela and C.P.E202 

Not far from our previous stop, we reached the thermal area near São Pedro do Sul. It was a place that I’ve never been before, but it was great to be there, that for sure we will return, to spend some time in this calm thermal spa, but also to enjoy the surrounding landscapes. Here we found: ISTO TAMBÉM SÃO TERMAS… , Água Termal - Termas de São Pedro do Sul ,  F...F...F...Fossil! - DP/EC62 and  Hot Water – a few geocaches, found without any problems, on a walk on this quite place.

Going a bit more, we reached Castro Daire, where at the entrance we found: Ponte Pedrinha de Castro Daire .

After passing by Castro Daire we went up to the Serra de Montemuro, with great landscapes, where we could enjoy all the nearby (and some more distant) places. There we could also search for some treasures, but our final destination was a bit far, so there were no more time for stops.

Being now on the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, we had the chance to visite some nearby places, or even to travel a bit to Amarante and enjoy the views and the monuments. Concerning to geocaches, we had a lot to search, but being in family the options are more limited, so we found: MONTEDEIRAS  , CASTELINHO  , XIX - Em Busca do Tesouro Perdido  , Tuías , Convento de Avessadas e Santuário do Menino Jesus  , Nature IV  and  Penha Longa .

Our return was made taking a different route, and we come the first Kms near the Douro river. The views are magnificent there, and we took some stops, or to take photos or to search for the caches: Spectare VI , Spectare VII - Estação CP da Pala and  Spectare IV .

The next stop was Resende, that we hear a lot for the cherries that come from this place. We stopped for a while and went to make a visit to the local market. After, it was time to move on, now leaving the Douro River behind and going up to the mountain in front of us. On our way we found: Cárquere [Resende] ,  FELGUEIRAS VI , Monte de São Cristovão [Resende] , MOINHO * GOSENDINHO 

Not far from Viseu we went to Vila Nova de Paiva, and on our route we had the chance to discover: Capela de Santa Luzia ,  Capela N. Sra do Perpétuo Socorro  , Praia Fluvial de Vila Cova à Coelheira   , "CU DA MOIRA" , PRESÉPIOS NO MONTE * VILA COVA À COELHEIRA  , Auditório Municipal Carlos Paredes - V N de Paiva  and  O Castelo Perdido... do Centauro!!! 

This journey took us 3 days, a lot of Kms, some geocaches, but most of all, it allowed us to visit great places and enjoy wonderful natural landscapes. For sure we will return, probably not exactly to the same places, but nearby.
